SOFTWARE ENGINEER (M/F)
The SESAME is part of the LinkSCEEM-2 FP7 project (Linking Scientific Computing in Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean). The project provides funding for a short-term contract to work for 12 months on porting codes to GPU's.
T H E F U N C T I O N
The goal of this contract is to conceive new GPU algorithms which will improve the performances of the most computing-time consuming applications.
The reason for improving performances is two fold:
- Many experimental stations generate data at an always increasing rate, for example tomography beamlines, and these data must be processed at a consequent speed.
- The improvement of theoretical models results often in more sophisticated and time consuming algorithms. Examples are algebraic methods for tomographic reconstruction and ab-initio electronic structure calculations.
You will be in contact with scientists working on computational methods concerned by the above problematics and help them accelerate the programs they use by porting, where appropriate, selected code parts to GPU.
You will package your new GPU-based solutions in well defined modules in such a way that they can be easily reused in different projects.
In return to the LinkSCEEM contribution, you will participate in spreading the knowledge in direction of other scientific computing facilities, in particular those in the scope of the LinkSCEEM mission. For more details
