SESAME call for proposals

30 April, 2022

We are glad to announce that we accept proposals on the three operational beamlines (BM02-IR, BM08-XAFS/XRF, and ID09-MS) for the user period starting from October 01st 2022, to June 30th 2023.

Interested scientists should first register with the SESAME User Office to submit proposals. This can be done at (https://sup.sesame.org.jo) following the instructions therein.

The deadline for receiving proposals is June 30th 2022, at 15:00 Jordanian time.

Before submitting a proposal, interested scientists are encouraged to discuss the technical possibilities of the instruments and contact the SESAME beamline scientists Gihan Kamel (gihan.kamel@sesame.org.jo), Messaoud Harfouche (messaoud.harfouche@sesame.org.jo) and Mahmoud Abdellatief (mahmoud.abdellatief@sesame.org.jo) for proposals related to the IR, XAFS/XRF and MS beamlines respectively.

We thank you in advance for your interest in using SESAME as an advanced tool for your research!

For any further enquiry, please contact: useroffice@sesame.org.jo

UPDATES:

The machine runs routinely with one injection per day, at a higher current (300 mA) and a longer lifetime (24 h).

BM02-IR:
A new Bruker Vertex 70v FTIR spectrometer, coupled to Hyperion 3000 IR-vis Microscope, has been installed at the IR beamline.

BM08-XAFS/XRF:
A new multi-element detector with the ability to measure large photon fluence rates without saturating allows for increased sensitivity for diluted samples at the XAFS/XRF beamline.

ID09-MS:
Besides measuring powder samples in glass capillaries, the MS beamline is now operating also in flat sample mode.
