Workshop on the Scientific Case for BEATS

09 April, 2019

A new beamline is being designed for SESAME to enable research using tomography from 2022 onwards. The beamline will be designed, constructed, and commissioned by the EU H2020 funded project BEATS (Beamline for Tomography at SESAME; [https://beats-sesame.eu]).

A workshop is being organized by the BEATS partners to explore the various applications of high-resolution synchrotron radiation (SR) tomography, and more specifically, applications relevant to the SESAME region.

The event is open to all researchers and interested parties across academic disciplines, industry, governmental services, and other interested parties, regardless of field, as any area with material samples can benefit from the application of high-resolution tomography to specific problems or research questions. Invited presentations will lay the ground for discussions on applications, and how these may feed into the design of the tomography beamline, which is to be the first in the region.

The programme includes some talks organized by the BEATS partners. Further presentations (podium and/or poster) are accepted if an abstract (max 300 words) is submitted by 19 April 2019. postponed to 26th April, 10 am (GMT+3).

The workshop will take place on 27-28 June 2019 at the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia, Cyprus.

There are no workshop fees (participation in the workshop is free of charge), however for organizational reasons, all participants are asked to register by 26 May, and each participant/participating institution is responsible for his/her own flight, accommodation and subsistence costs, unless otherwise advised.
