10th SESAME Users' Meeting
7 - 9 November 2012 - Amman, Jordan

First Announcement
(Tentative)

The 10th SESAME users' meeting will be organized on November 7 - 9, 2012 in Amman, Jordan. The scope of the meeting will be to inform the users about recent progress and developments around SESAME, to give them the opportunity to present their results and to exchange ideas and develop new collaborative research projects within the SESAME users community and present their views of interest in SESAME. The meeting will bring together scientists from the region and world experts in the various fields of synchrotron applications. The scientific program of the meeting consist of the following items:

  • Opening Session and Plenary Talks
  • Four dedicated workshops on IR, XRF/XAFS, PX and PDB
  • Visit to SESAME site

Detailed scientific program of the meeting will be released in the second announcement and will include: invited, plenary, and contributed talks as well as a poster session. The scientific program will cover topics in:

  • Atomic, molecular, and chemical physics.
  • Structural biology, drug design, and medical applications.
  • Materials science, electronic structure and nanotechnology.
  • Archaeology and cultural heritage.
  • SESAME machine and Phase I beamlines development.

Accommodation
Details will be announced later.

Financial Support
Limited funds are available to meet part of the travel and hotel expenses for some young participants. You may request that you be considered for these funds by indicating so on the Registration Form.

Abstracts
Abstracts for all talks and posters should be submitted using the Registration Form. The deadline for abstract submission is August 31, 2012.

Visa Information
Visas are issued from Jordanian Diplomatic and Consular Missions abroad or from major ports of entry according to regulations. You can find a Jordanian Embassy in your country by visiting the Jordanian diplomatic missions worldwide web page. For more information on how to apply for a visa please go to the Consular affairs department page. SESAME, upon request, can issue a letter of invitation for purposes of obtaining a visa or a permission to travel from your institute.
