On 3 September 2014, the SESAME team succeeded in accelerating the electrons in the booster synchrotron to their final energy of 800 MeV making it the then most powerful high-energy accelerator in the Middle East.

The 24th meeting of the SESAME Council was held on the premises of the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF) in Frascati (Italy) on 12-13 May 2014.

The Council of SESAME notes good progress with construction and welcomes generous contributions from the European Commission and Italy.

Representatives of the members of SESAME (Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, the Palestinian Authority and Turkey) met at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna on 28-29 May for the 22nd meeting of the Council.

At a meeting in Amman on 8 March 2012, representatives of four SESAME Members (Iran, Israel, Jordan and Turkey) agreed to make voluntary contributions of US$5 million each towards the construction of SESAME over the four years 2012-15.

The SESAME Council met on 30 and 31 May at the El Hassan Science City (EHSC) in Amman (Jordan), courtesy of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya Bint El Hassan, President of the EHSC.

On 14th of July 2009 at 00:35 AM the first electron beam has been injected from SESAME Microtron, the pre-injector of the future SESAME (Synchrotron light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) machine.

The SESAME microtron, which was previously in use at BESSY I but has been refurbished and upgraded, accelerated a beam to the full energy of 22.5 MeV on 14 July 2009 while temporally installed in the SESAME hall.

In a record time by any standards, just five years after the ground-breaking ceremony, the Jordanian Authorities officially handed over to SESAME the building that is to serve as its premises.
